Starting in January 2027, Gmail will no longer support sending emails using external email accounts in the same way it does today.
Many people currently use Gmail as a central inbox for their own domain-based email address — for example, name@yourcompany.com — while continuing to read and send messages through the familiar Gmail interface.
Google is changing this setup. This means that if you use Gmail to manage an email address hosted by another provider, you may need to change the way your account is configured before January 2027.
What should you do?
If you currently send email from a business or personal domain through Gmail, check your configuration well before the deadline. Depending on your email provider, alternatives may include using its webmail service, an email client such as Thunderbird or Outlook, or moving the mailbox to a service that integrates directly with Gmail.
The important thing is not to wait until January 2027. Check how your email is currently connected and make sure you have an alternative in place.
